HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY BILLY!

Billy Graham

Billy Graham

I first met Billy over 50 years ago at a Christian award gala. A deep admirer of Billy’s prior to our meeting, we have since developed a relationship based upon our mutual dedication to God. He and I have become closer over time and talk as often as time and circumstances allow. A couple of years ago I was thinking about ways in which I could pay tribute to him and was surprised that no one had thought to pay tribute to this great man through music, and I took the opportunity to get together with some of Billy’s admirers in the music world to create this tribute.

David Pack, Billy Dean and I wrote what we thought was a great song and brought together some of the brightest stars from across the musical spectrum to create a moving tribute to Billy, who is turning 90 years young on November 7. The three of us contacted many of our friends in the industry and created an all-star loving tribute to a man who has few peers.

As Billy approaches his 90th birthday, there are many DVDs available that showcase Billy’s life, and you should check out all of these titles to see which one you might rent or purchase to help you better understand what an incredible man he is. Two of the more interesting titles are “Billy Graham: God’s Ambassador,” which is the only DVD authorized by BGEA, and “Thank You Billy Graham, “ which is unique and different from all other Billy Graham tributes or documentaries in that the world’s greatest musicians pay tribute to Billy through song and testimony.

The tribute video performance opens with Bono’s perspective lauding Graham’s global influence and rolls into a stunning montage highlighting Billy’s impressive career and the notable figures who have looked to him for spiritual guidance.

Andrae Crouch, Kenny Rogers, LeAnn Rimes, Michael McDonald, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, George Strait, Reba McEntire and Charlie Daniels are just a few of the musicians handling verses and joining in on the indelible chorus “He heard the word, got the call, took the message to us all, said it so we all could understand.”

The Billy Graham Evangelical Association is asking everyone to send Billy birthday greetings and I urge everybody to share their thoughts to the one man who changed the world with one message.

Early Voter Turnout Shows America Is Excited Again

We’ve heard about ACORN and YPM and other organizations that have registered hundreds of thousands of voters over the past couple of months. President Bush has just asked the Justice Department to probe whether or not there has been voter registration fraud in Ohio. Laws have been passed in a handful of states to ensure that only those who live in the United States legally, and are legally registered to vote, will cast their ballot in our upcoming presidential election. And once this all gets sorted out, once voter fraud is identified and those who are registered illegally are not allowed to vote, one thing stands out; Americans are excited about this election. They know what it means to them and to our country.

To those who know me, or think they know me, it will come as no surprise that I believe that John McCain is the best man to run our country for the next four years and I fervently hope that he is our next President. I’m proud to cast my ballot for Senator McCain and Governor Palin.

But what really excites me is that record numbers of voters across the country are casting their ballots before Election Day, either with absentee ballots or in the 32 states that allow early voting. More Americans are expected to vote this year than in any presidential election since I’ve been able to vote, and it’s great that Americans are so interested in our future.

I watch TV and see that in Florida and other states where people are standing in line for two or more hours to cast their vote. Over 1.5 million people have already cast their votes in Florida alone. The experts say that 30% of all votes may be cast before November 4, up from 14% in 2000.

A Gallup pole released Friday found that of all people that have voted nationally, roughly half voted for Senator McCain, the other half for Senator Obama. As a Republican, I’m confident that the vote will be won on Election Day, when Republicans generally turn out to vote in much bigger numbers than Democrats. But as a patriot who loves America, I’m very excited that more people will vote this year than any other time in my lifetime.

God Bless America.

Billy Graham To Turn 90: Public Invited To Send Birthday Wishes

Evangelist Billy Graham

Evangelist Billy Graham

“Jesus Himself promised “greater things than these shall you do.” How could that be possible? Well, Billy Graham has preached in person to Two Hundred and Fifteen Million people in his fifty-plus year ministry! And that doesn’t even include television, radio and print media. The best part — he’s always pointing simply to Jesus, our Lord and Savior, who can take the “new creation” through this life and into eternity. I truly believe there has been no greater human being on this earth since Jesus Himself.

Thank you Billy Graham!”

Lyrical Salute to Billy Graham

“Thank You Billy Graham” © 2000
Pat Boone, David Pack, Billy Dean

On the 7th of November 1918 he was born
To a Carolina farmer and his wife.
He grew up long and lanky, milkin’ cows n’ tendin’ school
Looking for direction in his life.

He went to church one Sunday
And met a preacher there
A man they call Mordecai Ham.
Took him by the hand, led him down the aisle
As they sang “Just As I Am.”

CHORUS:
He heard the word, he got the call,
he took the message to us all.
He said it so we all could understand.
Around the world, here at home,
he let us know we’re not alone.
Oh, thank you Billy Graham.

In little country churches, at the Tab and Youth for Christ
People came from everywhere to hear him speak.
He had no idea just how God would use him next
‘til in London’s Wembley Field the spirit peaked.

REPEAT CHORUS:

Father, he adores you. He’s tried to serve you well.
To everyone who’d hear him out, your story he would tell.
Though all the world may know him, he’s still a humble man.
Whoever else may know your grace, remember Billy Graham, Billy Graham.

His ministry on radio, TV, and every type of magazine,
Touching millions of every color, tribe, and race;
From Parliaments to Presidents, from Kings to common folks,
Each one heard the truth of God’s amazing grace.

REPEAT CHORUS:

Thank you for the Father.
Thank you for the Son.
Thank you for our brother here
And all the work he’s done.
He would not want to hear it.
He’s such a humble man,
But around the world we need to say it;
“Thank you Billy Graham…oh thank you Billy Graham.”

Thank You Billy Graham

The Bible says, “Honor those to whom honor is due.”

If there’s a human being, since the first century, who is more deserving of world-wide honor than Billy Graham, I don’t know who it is.

Yes, there have been great medical discoveries, so we honor Louis Pasteur, Jonas Salk and Madam Currie. There have been philosophical, economic and scientific discoveries that have contributed greatly to the welfare of mankind – but Billy Graham’s contributions have to do with this life, and the life we believe awaits us. We call that life eternity.

‘Live’ in front of millions and millions of people, through fifty-plus years of tireless ministry, this man has poured out his life and energies to bless men and women, their families, and their circumstances. Like Mother Theresa, he has cared for their physical well-being, but even more for their eternal destiny. Millions have heard him preach the truth of God’s love and salvation and have received it. Can anyone claim to have done more in the last 2,000 years? Billy himself is very humble and wants no accolades – but as our song says, we need to do him honor and acknowledge the miracles God can perform through a yielded man.

Like Bono, I thank God for Billy Graham.
